We'll be using this wiki to document the pre-conference workshop,
Effective Online and Blended/Hybrid Practices at the
Pacific Northwest Teaching and Learning Conference, 2008. I've invited everyone to join the wiki so all of you will be able to create and edit pages as well as make comments.
I think this will be a perfect tool to capture the ideas and best practices discovered and discussed during the workshop. I'm hoping we can add comments during the workshop so, by the end of the workshop, we'll have an instant online resource for all to use.
Based on the survey that 35 (and counting) of you completed:
- 50% of you have taught online or hybrid courses
- 44 % of you are interested in teaching online or hybrid courses
- 9% of you want more flexibility in your schedule
- 17% of you are in programs that are demanding more online and hybrid courses
- 80% of you are full time faculty
- 69% of you have taken an online or hybrid course
- 80% of you use PowerPoint and a CMS like Blackboard or WebCT
- and many of you are using videos, course web sites, podcasts, wikis, and blogs in your teaching
I'm getting some of the pages we'll need created now. Stay tuned!
